Business Analyst

RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Integration

  • Manage clients’ service requests for data imports, extractions, transformations, and migrations
  • Gather accurate and detailed requirements, review incoming requirements, and propose solutions
  • Work with developers to determine feasibility, estimate work effort, set a schedule, and assign to developers
  • Track progress of all service requests and keep clients, developers, and managers informed
  • Map data to import templates and to data models
  • Analyze data to find issues with data integrity, logic, and conformance business rules and data models
  • Execute data integration tools and verify correct results
  • Write SQL to analyze data and to script data changes

Reporting

  • Manage our clients’ service requests for new reports, changes, deployments, and help using reports
  • Gather accurate and detailed requirements, review incoming requirements, and propose solutions
  • Work with developers to determine feasibility, estimate work effort, set a schedule, and assign to developers
  • Track progress of all service requests and keep clients, developers, and managers informed
  • Write SQL to analyze data, answer ad hoc questions, and to suggest report logic to developers

Software Implementation

  • Manage software deployment process and tasks in both SaaS and enterprise client environments.  After hours work may be necessary for managing SaaS deployments
  • Create installation documentation including requirements, procedures, QA checklists
  • Install and configure software either remotely or on-site
  • Support clients on installation and configuration by working with them over the phone, email or on-site
  • Track progress of all implementation tasks and keep clients, developers, and managers informed
  • Track historical information about implementation clients and versions
  • Light travel may be required (10%)

Tech Support

  • Solve level 2 support issues that are escalated by the level 1 support team
  • Use SQL, network analyzers, browser tools, and general knowledge of IT and web applications to debug issues
  • Create bug and feature cases for developers to address
  • Track progress of issues and keep clients, developers, and managers informed
  • Advise management on the priority of addressing issues in future releases

Software Development

  • Work with the product manager to help define the product features and roadmap
  • Work with users, developers, and UX designers to understand business requirements and define user stories that are clear and actionable for the development team
  • Ensure that user stories are the best they can be and are ready on time.  This is essential to keeping the development team’s velocity high
  • Be a user advocate.  Able to build relationships, build trust, empathize, and struggle to delight them
  • Be a developer advocate.  Able to build relationships, build trust, empathize, and struggle to make them successful
  • Be a UX designer advocate.  The UX designer is trying to foster a user-focused culture that enables the dev team to create solutions that delight users, not just that follows business requirements to the letter.  Help by getting all sorts of stakeholders engaged
  • Create and maintain project documents as needed.  This includes requirements, scope, feasibility analysis, project schedules, budgets, estimates, standards, user help, videos, etc.
  • Help us solve problems, be efficient, and be effective
  • Help with testing, especially UAT approval
  • Help our technical writer fully understand purpose behind new functionality to ensure correctness of help documentation
  • Help organize demos, deployments, and releases, including coordinating with users and execution

Internal Projects

  • Work with all corporate groups to understand issues and opportunities, prioritize based on value, and initiate projects to address them
  • Manage corporate IT projects, including requirements gathering and project management
  • Work with the technology teams to design and develop solutions to corporate projects

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-4 years working as a technical or functional analyst, or as an IT consultant working with a software development team to deliver solutions (Preferred)
  • 2-4 years in a service oriented role providing technical support for a software product to both internal and external users (Preferred)
  • 1-2 years using SQL to analyze data (Preferred)
  • 1+ years with any modern programming language (including scripting) that helps you understand software development and IT automation (Optional/Nice To Have)
  • Strong understanding of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies (Preferred)
  • Strong understanding of BA tools and methodologies (Preferred)
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, or other brand equivalents (Must Have)
