HireStrategy is looking for a Controller with responsibility for the administration of the finance and accounting functions of the company. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and monitoring of financial systems and the preparation of accurate and timely reports to keep management informed of the performance of the firm against pre-determined goals and objectives, cash management controls and project management as appropriate
  • Preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements
  • Prepare monthly accruals
  • Develop additional reports as required
  • Monitor the firm’s overhead expenditures on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain favorable relationships and communications with the firm’s CPA, clients, vendors and bankers
  • Supervise the firm’s liability insurance
  • Develop overhead and capital expenditure budgets for Owner’s review
  • Develop, train and maintain accounting staff
  • Supervise Project Accounting and A/P function
  • Work with Estimators in preparing client invoices
  • Develop a company contract review and approval procedure
  • Establish a collections policy and make collection calls
  • Provide monthly reports to Owner and develop new project report formats as required
  • Assist Estimators as appropriate in the preparation and review of fee proposals
  • Monitor the firm’s cash position daily
  • Arrange for short-term financing where required
  • Develop and maintain internal controls
  • Review employee expense reports
  • Insure that all company significant expenses are approved


  • Bachelors in Accounting\Business Administration
  • MBA/CPA a plus
  • 8+ years in business finance and accounting
  • Experience with construction company required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
