Fund Accountant

Our client is seeking a Fund Accountant in the Washington, DC metro area.

Primary Responsibilities:         

  • Manage data flow, capital calls, distributions, payments and investment funding’s
  • Analyze and interpret deal documentation for accounting and financial reporting purposes
  • Draft summary memoranda documenting funding’s, prepayments, restructurings and other transactions that are to be communicated to back office accounting and management
  • Prepare fund cash forecasts and coordinate capital call process
  • Assist in managing day to day interaction with outsourced back office function and custody service providers
  • Work closely with the Compliance department to support issuance of regulatory reports/filings
  • Provide assistance as needed to internal marketing team and investors in meeting client service needs
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual close for individual funds
  • Prepare monthly fund investment reconciliations
  • Prepare recurring and non-recurring journals to fund ledgers
  • Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements
  • Assist tax department in preparation of Fund and investor tax returns as well as the calculation of deferred and current entity level tax provisions
  • Manage external auditor requests
  • Provide support to the Accounting and Finance team in identifying, documenting and updating the group’s system of internal controls processes and procedures
  • Provide on-going ad-hoc assistance to senior management in the preparation of financial analysis and reports used for a variety of purposes including but not limited to investor and potential investor presentations and portfolio related matters

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Business, Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • 2 - 4 years of investment analysis/accounting experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP as it relates to the asset management industry
  • Demonstration of strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including relationship management
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with little supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to meet established deadlines
  • Demonstrated flexibility to accommodate changing priorities
  • Demonstrated understanding, knowledge of, and experience reading and interpreting contracts a plus
  • Demonstrated understanding of investment products, alternative investments and securities operations a plus
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, including specific expertise with Word and Excel
