Director of IT

The Director of Information Technology & Infrastructure will have responsibility for ensuring strategy, business continuity and disaster recovery planning as well as system security and data confidentiality. Develop and oversee IT networks, including telecommunications, database management and IT support. He/she will ensure the effective use of technology in support of business intelligence, marketing, communications and fund development. In addition to overseeing software applications, including the

Salesforce CRM, the Director will identify, negotiate contracts and manage, as needed, the staff and/or vendors to support network management and end users.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Determine, based on an independently conducted IT Assessment2, the most efficient and effective method for maintaining the day-to-day operations of a shared network and technology environment 
  • Recommend and incorporate the use of outsourcing/co-sourcing with in-house resources to align technology deliverables to the best needs of the enterprise as a whole within financial constraints.
  • Develop and manage a high performing IT operation ensuring that appropriate systems, security, processes, risk management and governance structures are in place.
  • Supervise and recommend improvements to the shared network and technology environment.
  • Ensure that technical systems, documentation, policies, procedures and practices are effective and well aligned with needs and desired outcomes.
  • Manage the adoption and delivery of appropriate technology innovation to support strategic priorities, working with agency leaders to enable effective implementation.
  • Ensure the usability of information and technology to improve operations and business processes that contribute to both its social and business value propositions.
  • Position IT department as a trusted partner across the organization.
  • Lead the development of a vision for optimizing the use of technology to meet business and mission-minded objectives.
  • Develop and manage a high performing IT operation ensuring that appropriate systems, security, processes, risk management and governance structures are in place.

  • Ensure the implementation of a cybersecurity strategy that ensures confidentiality, integrity and availability of information and systems on campus.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for nonprofit and charitable purpose enterprises.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Skilled at cultivating relationships and working collaboratively.
  • Experience setting priorities and managing project implementation. e) Experience working with middle market commercial enterprises.
  • Experience drafting business continuity plans.
  • Hands-on technical experience in software and infrastructure support.
  • Experience setting and tracking Backup and Recovery metrics based on cost for desired recovery needs.
  • Experience developing and tracking metrics on problem discovery and restoration, relative to the start of the outage.
  • Experience in vendor selection, including developing job specifications and contract negotiation.
  • Demonstrated success (3-5 years) managing staff and/or vendors.
  • Experience managing and consolidating physical servers/infrastructure.
  • Experience with enterprise level Salesforce and Salesforce integration with 3rd party tools.
  • Bachelor of Science in Technology or demonstrated equivalent field (workplace) experience.
  • Experience tracking customer satisfaction scores on IT services to business units and customers.

  • Track record of executing a cloud-first strategy.
  • Access to a network of vendors.
  • Experience negotiating vendor discounts for hardware and software services.
  • Experience with high-availability campus networks.
