Job Title: Senior Business Analyst

Working in partnership with management, business units, business partners and project team members, the Senior Business Analyst researches, analyzes, evaluates and documents proposed solutions to support business initiatives and assists the Project Manager to preferred project outcomes.  Participating in all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) as documented in methodology, this individual identifies and refines business objectives, rules and requirements, then facilitates the construction, verification and implementation of the associated solution.

The Senior Business Analyst will report to the supervisor identified above and when assigned to a specific project, the project manager of that project.

Responsibilities

  • Based on input from the business partners and using accepted business and industry techniques, elicit, analyze, research and evaluate existing business systems and processes to identify requirements, current state and future state for technology solutions
  • Develops business process models and requirements (business, user and functional) with stakeholders
  • Organize, lead and facilitate project team meetings (with stakeholders, department BAs and other BIS professionals) in which project activities are discussed, consensus is developed and issues are resolved, using positive conflict resolution techniques
  • Develop use cases to assist the Quality Assurance team with development of test cases
  • Ability to assist with project release documentation and ensuring that it accurately reflects the delivered solution
  • May assist with Quality Control (QC) and User Acceptance (UA) test cases
  • Analyze, track, troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during testing and implementation, serve as the project subject matter expert during construction and implementation stages for applications and provide direct or indirect project-related training
  • Develop reasonable time estimates for project team tasks and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner with a high level of quality
  • Assist the project manager in the performance of his/her duties and acting on behalf of the project manager during his/her absence

Supervisory Responsibility

No supervisory responsibilities are associated with this position.  However, supervisory skills are expected in mentoring to other business analysts in the department, business partner analysts and acting on behalf of the Project Manager during his/her absence.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related area of study highly preferred

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years progressive business analysis experience, preferably in the financial services industry
  • Experience working with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and a Traditional (Waterfall), Agile, or Hybrid approach
  • ITIL Foundation knowledge desirable

Certifications

  • Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred (Yellow or Green belt)
  • International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®) certifications in Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA®) or Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP®) with post-certification business analysis experience is preferred, or this individual should be working towards their preferred career path of CBAP or PMP certification

  • Ability to enhance, maintain and apply knowledge and understanding of industry-standard Business Analysis practices and philosophies, analysis techniques, requirements gathering techniques and tools
  • Ability to function independently or within a team environment with limited supervision
