HR Generalist

Addison Group is assisting our Houston-area client with their search for a qualified HR Generalist.

HR Generalist Description:

  • The HR Generalist maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance
  • The HR Generalist recruits, interviews, and help to select employees to fill vacant positions
  • The HR Generalist plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude towards company goals
  • The HR Generalist keeps records of benefits plans participation, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting
  • The HR Generalist trains management in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment
  • The HR Generalist advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues
  • The HR Generalist responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs
  • The HR Generalist administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance and equity within organization
  • The HR Generalist administers salary administration programs to ensure compliance and equity within organization
  • The HR Generalist administers benefits programs such as medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances,  PTO, leave of absence, and employee assistance
  • The HR Generalist investigates accidents and prepares reports for insurance carrier
  • The HR Generalist conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate
  • The HR Generalist prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation.
  • The HR Generalist maintains strict confidentiality of company and personnel information
  • The HR Generalist demonstrates a strong commitment to the mission and values of the organization
  • The HR Generalist adheres to company attendance standards
  • The HR Generalist performs other duties as assigned

HR Generalist Requirements:

  • HR Generalist candidates must have project management skills
  • HR Generalist candidates must have strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • HR Generalist candidates must be creative and have innovative writing ability, including proofreading and editing for grammar and punctuation
  • HR Generalist candidates must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • HR Generalist candidates must be detail-oriented
  • HR Generalist candidates must have the ability to multi-task and work independently
  • HR Generalist candidates must be able to interact with staff at all levels in a fast-paced environment
  • HR Generalist candidates must have a working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, workers’ compensation, wage and hour issues, and labor relations, including, but not limited to the following statutes and their comparable state and local laws (where applicable): Title VII, ADEA, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, FLSA, ADA, OSHA, FMLA, ERISA, and NLRA
  • HR Generalist candidates must be proficient using software programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook

HR Generalist Necessary Education and/or Experience:

  • HR Generalist candidates must have at least 2 years experience in Hospitality or Hotel/Lodging experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline from four-year college or university required of HR Generalist applicants
  • Three (3) to five (5) years relevant work experience in Human Resources is necessary for HR Generalist candidates
  • Knowledge of HR operations and administration required of applying HR Generalists
  • Knowledge of HR-related state and federal regulations required (multi-state preferred) for HR Generalist candidates
