Network Engineer

Our client is a high growth security firm in Loudoun County looking at hire a Network Operations Engineer for a full-time/direct placement role. This position will be based in the client's headquarters locations with some travel to local data center sites.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Must have working knowledge in LAN/WAN, Trusted Internet Connection (TIC), network virtual switching, load balancing, and WAN acceleration design and execution using Cisco, Juniper, F5, Palo-Alto
  • Ability to configure Cisco routers/switches, F5 Global and Local Traffic Managers, Palo Alto and Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco Nexus 7k, 5k, 4500x, Cisco Wireless and Cisco 6509
  • Fix incidents, problems, and change requests in accordance with service-level agreements (SLA’s) and accepted maintenance windows
  • Keep an eye on ticket queues during everyday business hours
  • Create professional diagrams and illustrations with software such as Visio, OmniGraffle, and Dia
  • Must have reliable transportation 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 4-6 years data center network infrastructure experience
  • Strong background in Cisco router and switch (Catalyst and Nexus) configuration using trade typical networking implements
  • Solid hands-on network engineering experience
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • Strong Knowledge of Nexus switches
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco ASA firewall appliances
  • Hands-on experience with Firewall and Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) security implementations
  • Hands-on experience with F5 Load Balancers
  • Hands-on experience with Palo-Alto Firewalls
  • Able to work well independently, and with a team, to administer and support the entire program
  • Show good time management skills, independent decision making abilities, and an emphasis on customer service
  • Possess good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Experience with SolarWinds or other Network Management System (NMS)
  • Experience configuring SNMP managed devices
  • CCNP or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued), Security+
  • Experience with process development and deployment
  • Familiarity with Vcenter/Vsphere design, configuration and deployment
  • Experience with Cross Domain Solution (CDS) implementation
  • Experience with Trusted thin client implementations
  • Experience with System Information Management (SIEM) system integration
  • Experience with basic WINDOWS and LINUX systems administration functions
