Our client is a respected nonprofit organization focused on advancing educational opportunity and workforce development. The organization is investing in its internal Learning and Development function as it prepares to launch a new employee learning platform.
Job Description:
The Learning and Development Specialist will design, build, and support employee training programs that strengthen skills and boost organizational effectiveness. This person will work closely with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to pinpoint learning gaps, shape training goals, and produce engaging content across formats including e-learning, in person training, and virtual instructor led sessions. The role also includes hands on LMS administration, coordination of training logistics, and ongoing evaluation of program impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to shape learning goals and training priorities
- Evaluate audience needs to recommend the right delivery method, whether e-learning, live instruction, or a blended approach
- Draft course outlines, storyboards, and scripts for training content
- Build interactive e-learning courses using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise 360, Adobe Captivate, Canva, and HeyGen
- Develop supporting resources including facilitator guides, participant workbooks, job aids, and presentation materials
- Upload, test, and publish SCORM/xAPI compliant courses within the Learning Management System
- Support user group setup, enrollments, and tracking inside the LMS
- Coordinate logistics for live and virtual training sessions
- Build quizzes, knowledge checks, and post training surveys to measure effectiveness
- Review early learner feedback and make timely adjustments to improve outcomes
- Organize and hand off source files, assets, and documentation to support a smooth transition to permanent staff
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field required
- Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Adult Education, Organizational Development, or Human Resource Management preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Learning and Development, Professional Development, or Organizational Development
- Hands on experience with instructional design tools including Articulate Storyline, Rise 360, Adobe Captivate, Canva, and HeyGen
- Comfortable conducting needs assessments and translating department specific gaps into practical learning solutions
- Strong written communication skills for scripts and outlines, along with the ability to coordinate projects across multiple formats
- Collaborative and energized by brainstorming with stakeholders, comfortable presenting to audiences at all levels
- ATD Instructional Design Certificate or similar credential a plus
Additional Details:
This is a long term contract opportunity pending budget approval, with strong potential to convert to a permanent role. Candidates should be prepared to complete a standard background check as part of the hiring process.
