Pay: $18.88 – $22.50 / hour, based on experience. Candidates with extensive specialty billing experience may be considered at a higher rate.
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7.5 hour workday with a 30 - minute unpaid lunch. Flexible start time between 8:00 – 9:00 AM. Hybrid schedule of 3 days in office and 2 days remote after approximately one month of training.

A healthcare organization in North Chicago is looking for a Medical Billing Specialist to join its growing team. This is an opportunity to work in a collaborative healthcare environment with a combination of onsite and remote work after training.
Job Description:
The Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for supporting the full medical billing process, including claim preparation, denial follow-up, account research, and patient communication. The ideal candidate will have healthcare billing experience and strong attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review patient accounts and insurance information to ensure claims are accurate and ready for submission.
- Prepare and process medical claims while identifying missing or incorrect information.
- Communicate with providers and internal departments to obtain documentation needed to complete or correct claims.
- Investigate denied and rejected claims and determine appropriate next steps for resolution.
- Make necessary claim updates, corrections, and follow-up to help ensure timely reimbursement.
- Respond to patient calls and assist with questions related to billing, claims, and account balances.
- Maintain accurate billing records and documentation.
- Follow established billing procedures and payer requirements.
Qualifications:
- Previous medical billing experience preferred.
- Medical Billing and Coding certification is preferred but not required.
- Experience with Podiatry, Physical Therapy, Behavioral Health, or OB/GYN billing is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of insurance claims, denials, and reimbursement processes.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Candidates should live within approximately 30 minutes of the North Chicago office.
Additional Details:
- Approximately one month of onsite training before transitioning to the hybrid schedule.
- Free onsite parking.
- Candidates must complete an online application before interviewing.
- Three professional references are required, including at least one former direct supervisor.
- Interview process includes a virtual interview followed by a final interview with leadership.
