Job Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced Property Accountant to join their accounting team in West Houston. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of property accounting experience and a strong understanding of full-cycle accounting. Experience with Yardi and/or MRI is highly preferred. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reconciliations, supporting month-end close, and managing accounting activities for assigned properties.
Responsibilities:
- Perform full-cycle accounting for assigned properties
- Prepare monthly financial statements and property-level financial reports
- Perform bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations
- Prepare and post journal entries and recurring entries
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities related to assigned properties
- Review and reconcile property income and expenses
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and supporting documentation
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare variance analyses and investigate discrepancies
- Review property budgets and compare actual results to budget
- Assist with CAM reconciliations and tenant-related accounting
- Work with property management teams to resolve accounting discrepancies
- Support audits and provide requested financial documentation
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records
- Perform other accounting duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of Property Accounting experience required
- 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience required
- Yardi and/or MRI experience highly preferred
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations
- Experience with month-end close and financial reporting
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
