Job Description
Our client is seeking an HR Coordinator to oversee day-to-day HR operations while serving as the primary HR resource for the organization. Reporting to the Finance & Operations Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the full employee lifecycle, maintaining compliance, administering benefits, and partnering with managers on performance management and employee relations. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced government contracting environment and enjoys wearing multiple hats.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruiting support, onboarding, offboarding, employee status changes, and personnel records.
- Coordinate onboarding for employees and 1099 contractors, ensuring compliance with I-9, E-Verify, and onboarding requirements.
- Administer and maintain the HRIS (ADP), employee files, HR documentation, and shared drives.
- Partner with Business Managers on employee relations, performance reviews, coaching, disciplinary actions, and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
- Coordinate annual performance reviews and employee engagement initiatives.
- Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, qualifying life events, COBRA, Open Enrollment, and communications with benefit providers.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FLSA, EEOC, DOL, ACA, and related regulations.
- Develop and maintain HR policies, employee handbooks, SOPs, and HR documentation.
- Manage subcontractor and 1099 contractor onboarding, agreements, compliance documentation, and tracking.
- Serve as the primary HR coordinator, facilitating HR processes and providing exceptional support to employees while escalating complex issues when appropriate.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Previous experience supporting a government contractor strongly preferred.
- Experience working as the sole or primary HR representative within a small organization is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of employment law, including FLSA, EEOC, DOL, I-9, E-Verify, ACA, and COBRA.
- Experience with ADP HRIS required.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to support remote employees and managers with a strong virtual presence.
