Position Title: Legal Secretary

Location: Houston, TX 

Assignment Type: Direct Hire

Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000 / Year

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 - 5 PM

Position Overview

This role provides high‑level administrative and litigation support to attorneys, helping streamline daily operations and maintain efficient case management. The position focuses on supporting a commercial litigation practice through strong organization, communication, and attention to detail. Acting as a key liaison, this individual interacts with clients, courts, and third parties while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.


Success in this role requires a proactive, team‑oriented mindset, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. The individual must be able to follow detailed instructions, anticipate needs, resolve issues as they arise, and collaborate effectively with a wide range of professionals. Core Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and litigation support under the direction of assigned attorneys.
  • Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling court appearances, depositions, meetings, conferences, travel, and tracking deadlines and filing requirements.
  • Draft, revise, transcribe, format, and distribute a wide range of legal and business documents, including correspondence and pleadings.
  • Serve as a professional point of contact for clients, court personnel, and external parties, responding to inquiries and routing matters appropriately.
  • Communicate with clients and third parties to obtain information, follow up on assignments, and exercise discretion in determining when independent action is appropriate.
  • Coordinate logistics related to hearings, filings, couriers, court reporters, expert witnesses, and other case‑related needs.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and physical files, utilizing electronic filing and document management systems efficiently.
  • Assist with billing and expense reporting, including submission of billable time and reimbursement documentation.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of all client, case, and attorney information.
  • Collaborate with support staff as needed and assist with file management projects.
  • Support team and departmental objectives by taking initiative on new tasks, special projects, and process improvements.
  • Demonstrate strong follow‑through, time management, and organizational skills while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Provide consistent, professional communication and exceptional service to internal and external contacts.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2–3 years of experience supporting litigation attorneys as a legal secretary or in a similar role.
  • Ability to type at least 65 WPM with strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe applications.
  • Experience working with document management and timekeeping/billing systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multi‑task effectively.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Dependable, flexible, and willing to work additional hours as needed.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods at a computer and perform light physical tasks, including lifting up to 25 pounds.
