About the role

We are a publicly traded company looking for an experienced Manager of Payroll & Stock Administration to join our Finance and HR Operations team. This is a hands-on role with real scope — you'll own two high-stakes, high-visibility functions where accuracy and compliance are non-negotiable, while collaborating across HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors.



What you'll own

Payroll

  • Manage end-to-end U.S. payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Administer payroll systems and manage relationships with external payroll providers
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage, tax, and reporting requirements
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts (wages, taxes, benefits, deductions) and support audits
  • Lead payroll process improvement initiatives, controls, and documentation

Equity administration

  • Administer employee equity plans including stock options, RSUs, and ESPP
  • Manage the full grant lifecycle — issuance, vesting, exercises, and settlements
  • Maintain accurate equity records and coordinate with transfer agents and external vendors
  • Support SEC filings, tax reporting, and all related regulatory compliance requirements
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee equity questions and communications

Compliance & cross-functional partnership

  • Ensure SOX compliance and maintain strong internal controls across both functions
  • Support regulatory filings including W-2s, 1099s, and Form 4s
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, Accounting, Legal, and IT teams
  • Provide subject matter expertise on all payroll and equity-related matters



What we're looking for

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, HR, or a related field
  • 6–8+ years of hands-on experience in payroll and/or equity administration
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations, tax compliance, and reporting requirements
  • Direct experience administering equity compensation programs including stock options and RSUs
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail

Preferred

  • Experience in a publicly traded company with SOX exposure
  • Familiarity with payroll and equity systems such as Paycor, E*TRADE, or Computershare
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or CEP (Certified Equity Professional) certification
