About the role
We are a publicly traded company looking for an experienced Manager of Payroll & Stock Administration to join our Finance and HR Operations team. This is a hands-on role with real scope — you'll own two high-stakes, high-visibility functions where accuracy and compliance are non-negotiable, while collaborating across HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors.
What you'll own
Payroll
- Manage end-to-end U.S. payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Administer payroll systems and manage relationships with external payroll providers
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage, tax, and reporting requirements
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts (wages, taxes, benefits, deductions) and support audits
- Lead payroll process improvement initiatives, controls, and documentation
Equity administration
- Administer employee equity plans including stock options, RSUs, and ESPP
- Manage the full grant lifecycle — issuance, vesting, exercises, and settlements
- Maintain accurate equity records and coordinate with transfer agents and external vendors
- Support SEC filings, tax reporting, and all related regulatory compliance requirements
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee equity questions and communications
Compliance & cross-functional partnership
- Ensure SOX compliance and maintain strong internal controls across both functions
- Support regulatory filings including W-2s, 1099s, and Form 4s
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, Accounting, Legal, and IT teams
- Provide subject matter expertise on all payroll and equity-related matters
What we're looking for
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, HR, or a related field
- 6–8+ years of hands-on experience in payroll and/or equity administration
- Deep knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations, tax compliance, and reporting requirements
- Direct experience administering equity compensation programs including stock options and RSUs
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
Preferred
- Experience in a publicly traded company with SOX exposure
- Familiarity with payroll and equity systems such as Paycor, E*TRADE, or Computershare
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or CEP (Certified Equity Professional) certification
