Job Description:
This is a 3-month contract role focused on supporting month-end close and account cleanup efforts. The position will work closely with the accounting team to help address a backlog and ensure financial data is accurate and up to date. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working within established processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with month-end close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries and reclassifications
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations, including bank and intercompany accounts
- Support cleanup of account discrepancies and ensure proper tie-outs
- Handle prepaid schedules and assist with accrual entries
- Compare bank statements to general ledger activity and resolve variances
- Provide support for accounts payable and other transactional tasks as needed
- Follow established close procedures and collaborate with team members to meet deadlines
- Communicate effectively regarding issues, questions, and progress updates
Qualifications:
- Prior experience supporting month-end close in an accounting environment
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles (journal entries, reconciliations, accruals)
- Experience working within an ERP system (required)
- Proficiency in Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and SUMIFs
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions when needed
- Ability to work independently while following established processes
- Experience with Sage 100 is a plus
Additional Details:
- 3-month contract assignment
- Fully onsite role in Charlotte
- Flexible schedule (typical hours between 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
- Expectation of 40–45 hours per week
