We are looking for an Accounts Payable Accountant! Our client in Houston, Texas is seeking an AP Accountant on a contract-to-hire basis.
Job Responsibilities:
· Serve as disbursement reviewer, ensuring overall propriety (including coding accuracy, banking information, three-way match, vendor vetting, terms, etc.).
· Interface with A/P or other personnel to ensure costs are accurately captured, reconciled, and reported and monitor the process to ensure departmental practices are effective and efficient.
· Create journal entries that are complete, accurate, and timely and support company accounting policies and GAAP-compliant treatment.
· Prepare timely and accurate general ledger account reconciliations and roll-forwards; analyze the age and propriety of reconciling items and take appropriate resolution measures.
· Analyze propriety and effects of transactions and identify, evaluate, and recommend alternative means of accounting treatment.
· Perform month-end closing tasks, including journal entries and preparation of legal entity’s financial statements, support schedules, and various other accounting reports.
· Analyze various accounts, providing resolution and reconciliation within established timeframes.
· Maintain regular contact with internal customers, such as Cost Control, Procurement, Compliance, and Project Managers, and provide analysis and reporting as needed along with timely responses to questions that arise.
Job Requirements:
· 3-plus years of AP Experience.
· A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
· Vendor vetting - Foreign vendors.
· Proficiency in SAP software.
· Good tenure.
· Strong Excel skills.
