Role Overview
We are partnering with an established financial institution seeking two experienced investigators to support its consumer lending and solar servicing operations. The primary focus of this position is investigating and resolving complex borrower complaints and disputes, with fraud investigation as an additional core responsibility.
Cases may involve borrowers, solar installers, dealers, sales representatives, and other third parties. Complaints may originate from consumers, regulatory agencies, the Better Business Bureau, online reviews, legal channels, or internal escalations.
Requirements (please apply only if applicable)
- Industry experience required: Consumer lending, mortgage, credit card, loan servicing, or financial-services complaints
- 3+ years of complex complaint-resolution, dispute, fraud, or investigative experience
- Strong experience investigating and resolving borrower or consumer complaints
- Consumer lending, mortgage, credit card, or loan-servicing industry experience
- Experience identifying fraud, servicing errors, regulatory concerns, dealer misconduct, or contractual disputes
- Strong investigative skills, including the ability to ask effective questions and evaluate conflicting information
- Strong investigative writing skills, including formal findings, complaint responses, and resolution recommendations
- Experience conducting online investigations and reviewing supporting documentation
Strongly Preferred
- Experience handling CFPB, BBB, regulatory, legal, or executive complaints
- FCRA and credit-reporting dispute experience
- Knowledge of FCRA, SCRA, Regulation Z, UDAAP, TILA, BSA/AML, or OFAC
- Experience with LexisNexis, DataTree, Emailage, Snowflake, SQL, CLEAR, or similar investigative tools
- Solar lending, solar servicing, or home-improvement lending experience
- Certified Fraud Examiner certification
- Bilingual English and Spanish
Role Overview

Primary Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve complex, high-risk, and escalated borrower complaints
- Review disputes involving loan servicing, credit reporting, contract terms, dealer conduct, and funding delays
- Determine whether cases involve fraud, servicing errors, regulatory concerns, dealer misconduct, contractual disputes, or customer-service issues
- Review loan agreements, recorded calls, correspondence, financial transactions, installation records, and supporting evidence
- Investigate and resolve FCRA and credit-reporting disputes
- Conduct online research and use investigative databases to verify information
- Interview borrowers, dealers, installers, sales representatives, and other relevant parties
- Identify inconsistencies, suspicious activity, and recurring patterns
- Prepare clear investigative findings, formal responses, and resolution recommendations
- Draft initial responses for legal, regulatory, executive, and consumer complaints
- Conduct investigations at the direction of internal or external counsel
- Coordinate with third-party servicing partners and escalate potential fraud appropriately
- Manage a high-volume case backlog with urgency, accuracy, and sound judgment
- Support vendor training, process improvements, and special projects
