Job Description:
The Beyond Router is responsible for coordinating deliveries to locations outside standard service areas. This role involves researching transportation options, obtaining quotes, comparing costs, and determining the most effective delivery solutions while balancing expenses with service expectations.
The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment. This position primarily involves communicating with internal teams, delivery terminals, and transportation partners rather than providing direct customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate deliveries to remote locations by identifying available transportation options and keeping costs within established guidelines.
- Review delivery quotes and compare pricing, transit times, and service commitments to determine the most effective solution.
- Research alternative delivery routes and transfer options to improve efficiency and minimize expenses.
- Communicate with transportation partners and internal teams to obtain quotes, confirm approvals, and coordinate shipment transfers.
- Review pricing structures and shipment details to identify opportunities for more cost-effective delivery arrangements.
- Monitor daily and weekly shipment reports to ensure deliveries and transfers are progressing within expected timelines.
- Investigate shipment issues and collaborate with carriers, operations teams, and other business partners to resolve them.
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with delivery terminals and transportation providers nationwide.
- Adapt to changing procedures, operational guidelines, and competing priorities while maintaining accuracy.
- Document shipment decisions and follow up on outstanding issues to support timely resolutions.
Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience in order entry and tracking, operations support, sales support, or a related field.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Basic math skills, including calculating percentages and comparing costs.
- Strong typing skills and the ability to navigate multiple computer systems simultaneously.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to evaluate options and make sound, cost-conscious decisions.
- Comfortable multitasking and adjusting priorities in a high-volume environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a team.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and receive constructive feedback.
