Midtown NFP is seeking a temporary to hire Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation and review of all budgets, actuals, forecast reporting and processes. Candidate will assist in the preparation of analysis for current or proposed operations and provides timely, concise recommendations to improve results and performance.

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepare reports analyzing financial results and trends which impact the bottom line and propose action for operational improvements based on sound analytical procedures.
• Prepare program budgets, budget to actual variances, projections, and explanations.
• Prepare journal entries and allocation adjustments to ensure accurate reporting and balanced budgets.
• Review and approve program purchases.
• Prepare and track monthly accruals.
• Prepare and recommend salary, fringe and OTPS allocations to assist in achieving programmatic and fiscal objectives.
• Have a full understanding of all relevant funder requirements, guidelines, cost manuals and policies to ensure accounting, auditing and funder standards are followed and requests resolved timely.
• Prepare internal and external budgets and budget modifications based on variance analysis.
• Assist in the preparation of the CFR and other external reporting support schedules.
• Perform other related duties as required.
• Accurately and timely prepares financial reports that can be used by stakeholders for sound financial management.
• Budgets and actuals results are accurately prepared, tracked, and variances are readily explained.
• Uses accounting skills to correct errors on the general ledger.
• Ensures purchases are made against adequately funded lines and both document support and coding are correct.
• The general ledger activity is booked in the correct accounting period.
• Programmatic objectives are achieved while maintaining fiscal controls.
• In compliance with all governmental, funder, agency, and best practice standards.
• Allows agency to maximize reimbursement from funders for programmatic needs.
• External reporting is submitted timely, well-documented, and free of material errors.
• All other related tasks are accurate and on time.

Requirements:

·        Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA/MBA a plus

·        three years relevant billing, budget, and financial analysis experience.

·        Knowledge and ability to use an in-house PC-based accounting system in a network environment, including ability to create, run, and verify reports.

·        Advanced expertise with Excel/Word is essential.

·        This position requires the ability to successfully manage multiple projects under deadlines.

·        Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and conceptual skills required.
