About The Company:
A healthcare organization in Arlington Heights is seeking three HIM Technicians to support its Health Information Management team. This is an opportunity to work in a professional healthcare environment while gaining experience with electronic medical records and document management systems.
Job Description:
The HIM Technician will assist with converting, organizing, and maintaining patient medical records in an electronic format. This position will primarily focus on scanning and indexing medical documents while helping the department reduce an existing backlog. The ideal candidate will have recent hospital or health system experience and be comfortable working with electronic healthcare systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scan paper medical records and other healthcare documents into electronic systems.
- Assign appropriate document categories and types to ensure records are accurately organized.
- Review electronic images for clarity, completeness, and accuracy.
- Verify patient information and other required details before finalizing records.
- Process a high volume of documents while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
- Help prioritize and complete outstanding scanning and indexing work.
- Use electronic health record systems to locate, update, and manage patient documentation.
- Work with HIM team members and other departments to address document-related requests.
- Maintain patient privacy and follow HIPAA and organizational confidentiality standards.
- Identify basic equipment issues and communicate technical problems when additional assistance is needed.
- Support special projects and other departmental tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of recent experience with medical record scanning and indexing.
- Hospital or health system experience strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with various types of medical documentation.
- Experience with Epic strongly preferred.
- Experience with One Content is a plus but not required.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment.
- Strong attendance, punctuality, and reliability.
- Must have a high school diploma from a board of education-recognized institution
- Reliable transportation required.
Additional Details:
- Three positions available.
- Training will likely take place during earlier morning hours.

- Position is expected to remain in place through at least the end of the year.
