Job Description:
The Medical Collector/AR Specialist plays a critical role in the revenue cycle management process by ensuring the timely and accurate collection of outstanding medical bills and claims. This position involves working closely with insurance companies (specific to Medicaid), patients, and healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies, appeal denied claims, and secure payment for services rendered. The Medical Collector must possess strong communication and negotiation skills to effectively navigate the complex healthcare reimbursement landscape.
A Day in the Life:
- Insurance collections - beginning to end of the process
- Working through a que based on $ amount
- Follow up on aged accounts and obtain any money possible
- Working with Medicaid (LAmedicaid.com and 6 managed care Medicaid plans) and some BC/BS Claims
- Identifies underpayments to find reason for discrepancies and process denials & appeals
- Ability to be assertive when necessary and collect what they can
- Work with billers/different departments as needed to obtain information
Requirements:
- 1+ years of experience
- Epic EMR experience preferred, not required
- Medicaid & Some BC/BS claims
- Professional Billing Experience
