About The Company: Our client is an established organization in the Washington, DC area seeking an experienced HR professional to join its team on a contract basis. The organization offers a collaborative environment and is looking for someone who can provide both strategic guidance and hands-on HR leadership.
Job Description: The Human Resources Manager will oversee a broad range of HR operations while partnering with leadership on workforce and employee-related initiatives. This role will help guide employee relations, compliance, talent management, engagement, and process improvement while ensuring HR practices effectively support organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day HR activities, including employee relations, performance management, policies, and compliance initiatives
- Advise leadership on staffing needs, workforce planning, employee matters, and effective HR practices
- Develop and support initiatives designed to strengthen employee engagement and workplace culture
- Stay current on employment regulations and help ensure organizational practices align with federal, state, and local requirements
- Identify opportunities to streamline HR procedures, systems, and workflows
- Support recruiting, new-hire integration, and employee retention initiatives
- Provide guidance on sensitive employee situations while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professionalism
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive human resources experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
- Strong knowledge of employment regulations, HR compliance, and general workforce practices
- Proven ability to advise leadership and handle complex employee situations with professionalism and sound judgment
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using HRIS platforms
- Bachelor's degree required
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a plus
Additional Details: This contract assignment is expected to last approximately 3 months, with the potential for extension based on business needs. Candidates should be local to the Washington, DC area and comfortable working in a hybrid environment.
